Podiatrist Lauren Wurster, DPM, FACFAS
Lauren Wurster
Dr. Lauren Wurster is a Chicago-area native who now calls Arizona her home. While growing up in Illinois, Dr. Wurster spent her time dancing competitively. It was through this activity that she developed her passion to help people get back to their life’s activities through medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL, and received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University in Des Moines, IA.
Dr. Wurster completed her 3-year foot and ankle surgical residency at Dignity Health- St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, where she served as the sole chief resident of the program in her final year. She also was a resident member of multiple hospital committees and sought out additional educational opportunities when possible. Dr. Wurster has published in JAPMA and presented scientific posters at national conferences, including a 2nd place finish at The Western Foot & Ankle Conference. Over the course of 3 years, she had extensive training in podiatric forefoot reconstructive surgery, conservative and surgical intervention for traumatic foot and ankle injuries, rearfoot and ankle reconstructive surgery, diabetic limb salvage, biomechanical evaluation, sports medicine, and pediatric foot care.
Since moving to the Valley after completing her surgical training, Dr. Wurster has been active in the podiatric profession serving as a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association’s Board of Trustees and committee member for American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She graduated from the first cohort of ACFAS’s Leadership Development Program and is an adjunct faculty member at Midwestern University. Additionally, she volunteers with Special Olympics Arizona and at post-race and foot health events throughout the Valley. In her free time, Dr. Wurster enjoys kayaking, hiking, attending sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Wurster’s goal as a foot and ankle specialist is to provide excellent and ethical care to all of her patients. Through an evidence-based medicine and team-oriented approach, she looks forward to helping you accomplish your activity goals through a surgical (including minimally invasive procedures), regenerative medicine, or non-surgical treatment plan that best meets your individual needs.
